Documenting Camas Pride 2025
This summer really took off for me right about this time, at Camas Pride. It was the start of something good. Actually, PDXSquared in April was the start, but that was still Spring, ha. Anyway. I’m in love with my Fujifilm X-T50. This ultra light, technically excellent beauty has opened so much of the world of photography back up to me. <3
I’m remiss on posting, between keeping present with my not-so-kiddos, and trying to function when my tax dollars are funding heinous things. That last isn’t exactly new, but our collective front-row seat is new. My wide-open eyes are new, for me.
So, yes, catching up on posting.
I have a lot of favorites from this day, but here are a few quick picks.
I really enjoyed the connected feel of Camas Pride this year. The leaders gave volunteers their phone numbers, in case we needed them. They had a plan for all the strange contingencies that could have happened in our current sociopolitical climate, and planned ahead for what they could (loved the bus parking that enforced the no-drive zone!). No corporate entity (like a big data collector, yowza!) was there to upstage our community performers or the community itself. And a friendly, alert security staff kept eyes everywhere, keeping us safe.
I hope Camas Pride resists the draw of capitalism, and keeps this community spirit going forward.
